I am not called for full-time ministry. Can I join the classes?

 

Sure. Most of the classes are designed for every Christian who wants to grow in Christian faith. Those who are called for full-time ministry will be given a few additional advanced classes related to practical ministry.

 

Can female candidates attend the classes?

 

Yes. The online classes are open to both men and women.

 

I do not understand English well. Can I attend?

 

Yes. The classes are taught in the simplest possible English. A simple English learning class will be provided along with the Bible classes for the first year students. Anyone who knows the English alphabets and a few words will be able to easily follow along the English learning class. 

 

I have studied only a few standards at school. Can I join?

 

Definitely. Various academic programmes are designed for students with differing educational qualifications.

 

Is there any age bar for admission?

 

No. Anyone can join. There is no age bar for the online classes.

 

Will I have to write examinations? I am aged and not able to memorize and write the examinations. Can I join?

 

Yes, you can. There are two streams of study. One is fully finishing all the requirements for obtaining a degree. The other is just attending the classes and absorbing all the information and not expecting any degrees. The former is called taking the classes for credit. The latter is known as auditing the classes. You can either audit or take the classes for credit. 

 

I am currently working. Can I join?

 

Sure. If you can spare a few hours each day or a couple of hours each week you can join.

 

I don’t have a good internet connection. Can I join?

Yes. Online Zoom classes will be conducted four nights a week. All the class notes will be posted in the Google Classroom. If you cannot attend the online classes, you can open and read the text books and notes from the Google Classroom at your convenience, when you get proper internet connection.

Will the online classes be discontinued once the campus programs resume after the pandemic?

 

God willing, the online classes will continue even after the reopening of the campus.

 

I am not from India. Can I join? 

 

Sure. Anyone from anywhere in the world can join since the classes are in English.

 

Is this institution accredited? 

 

Light for India Theological Seminary is accredited by International Association for Theological Accreditation (IATA). Moreover, this institution is approved by the General Council of the Sharon Fellowship Church, Thiruvalla, Kerala, India.

 

Could you explain about Sharon Fellowship Church? 

 

Sharon Fellowship Church is an indigenous church group with around 2000 local churches in various parts of India and abroad. Dr. P. J. Thomas, a Wheaton College graduate, was instrumental in the hands of God to pioneer this church group in the early 1950s. The international office is in Thiruvalla, Kerala, India.

 

Will Serampore University accept the degree from Light for India Theological Seminary?

 

Possibly not. The theological degrees at Light for India are not at all connected to the University Grants Commission of India in any manner. This is basically a Christian ministry training institution. 

 

How much should I pay to study at Light for India?

 

Light for India is a faith-based ministry and the classes are conducted free of charge as the Lord provides. However, if anyone wants to contribute towards the expenses of running this institution, they can.

 

What is expected of the students?

 

The basic objectives of Light for India are four-fold: 

1) To develop a Christ-like character 

2) To facilitate spiritual growth 

3) To impart systematic Biblical knowledge 

4) To enhance God-given talents to be used in Christian ministry

This institution aims to see all these four dreams fulfilled in each of the students.
