OUR HISTORY

Light for India Bible College was opened in 1994 as a result of a clear vision given to Pastor Christudas B. Johnson and his wife Omana to train and equip young people for the work of the Lord in India.

The full-time residential Bible College was inaugurated on the 18th of June 1994 with the prayers and blessings of Dr. P. J. Thomas, Dr. T. G. Koshy, Dr. T.P. Abraham, Pastor Paul Gopalakrishnan, Pastor K.L. Sunny, Pastor K.T. Thomas and many other precious servants of God.

The Bible college is blessed with teachers who are Spirit-filled and dedicated servants of God with ministerial experience and academic excellence.

During the first two years, classes were conducted both in Malayalam and English. However, as students from other states were admitted, the medium of instruction was confined to English only.

The institution is approved by the General Council of Sharon Fellowship Church and is accredited by the International Association for Theological Association (IATA).

The first graduation service was conducted in 1997. 2024-25 is the thirty-first academic year of the institution.

It is a great joy that almost all of the Light for India graduates are relentlessly working for the Lord in various parts of India and a few in the Middle East.

As the Bible College was being upgraded to offer higher degrees, the name of the institution was changed to Light for India Theological Seminary (LITS) in 2017.

"Thus far the Lord has helped us" (1. Samuel 7:12).  May His name alone be glorified.
